Lake Belton
Fishing Report for 3 March 2012
The lake has come up a lot in the past week, putting many of the courtesy dock back in the water and usable.  The good news is that the lake is now only 3.12 feet low the bad news is, the lake is muddy all the way up past Roger’s Park and stained over the rest of the lake.  I launched at 8:30 this morning with the air temperature down to 58 degrees, but a water temperature was between 60 and 61 degrees.  With the rise in water temperatures, I was hoping to find some fish up in shallower water. I went with a variety of different baits today that included crankbaits, chatterbaits, jigs, C-Rig Lizard and Texas Rigged 10” worm.  It became clear, early that the Texas Rigged worm was what they wanted today.  I fished the muddy water and did manage 4 Largemouth today with 2 coming off rocky points leading into coves and 2 came way in the back of the cove.  No females only 14” males, but I don’t believe it will be much longer and the big females will be moving up to spawn. I ended today’s trip at 1:30 PM. I would also like to take a moment to thank everyone that have been requesting updated reports. I’ll do my best to keep ya’ll informed as to the fishing conditions on Belton, Stillhouse and the other area lakes that I fish. You can also find updates on Facebook, Texas Fishing Forum or www.fishhound.com.

Stillhouse Hollow Lake
Fishing Report for 13 May 2012
It was a very tough day on the lake today. Put in at 11:00 AM to partly sunny skies temperatures in the mid 80’s and a light north wind. The lake was up slightly due to the rain over the past couple of days; however the water temperature remains in the mid to upper 70’s. The first spot I decided to try was a deep main lake point with a few large trees on it. I first pitched the trees with a jig and a shacky-head with no luck, then tried running a chatterbait and spinnerbait thru the area, still not luck. I then noticed fish hitting the surface out in about 60 feet of water, so I moved closer and tried a lipless crankbait and picked up one small (13”). Moved from there to the back side of the island and fished the roadbed using both lipless and deep diving crankbaits and a C-Rig with not so much as a bite.  I then decided to try a main lake hump where I used an assortment of baits with no success. After 2 hours on the lake and having a hard time finding fish, I was all but ready to give up and had one other spot I wanted to try before I did. It was a long main lake point that I have not fished in a while, yet close to the boat ramp. Pulling up on the very end of the point, I fired a C-Rigged 6” Zoom Lizard up into the shallow water and worked it back deep. It wasn’t long before I had a fish on and within about a dozen casts I had 4 more fish. Ended the day at 2:00 PM with 6 small Largemouth Bass (nothing over 14”), a very tough day on the lake. Fayette County
Fishing Report for 21 January 2012
With cool morning temperatures and over cast skies we launched at 7:00 AM in the hopes of hooking into a few big Largemouth. Air temperatures were in the mid 40’s; with the water temperature about 10 to 12 degrees higher and the winds were out of the north at 10 MPH. Our first spot to try was an old road bed in about 14 feet of water where we tried throwing a C-Rig, a Jig and a Lipless Crankbait with no success. Moved from there into shallower water and switched to a Chatterbait and a 1.0 KVD Squarebill. Our first fish came on the Chatterbait and the other 4 that we managed to land came off the 1.0 Squarebill.  All the fish this day were 1 to 2 ½ pounds each and all came out of 8 feet of water or less. We lost one at the boat that would have gone every bit of 5 pounds and again in only 5 feet of water.  When it was all said and done, we ended the day with me catching 2 fish totaling 3.25 lbs. and my daughter had 3 fish with a total weight of 5.02 lbs.
